Drums, Drums, Drums
This four day summer camp will feature music and art with the theme of "Drums, Drums, Drums". Tap your fingers, your hands, on the table, on your lap. Just say the word drum and any child within earshot will be ready to play. Children love to drum on just about anything, and drums can be found in every culture. In this unit, we focus on drums, percussion instruments, and music from Africa and South America. We learn about echoes and we sing, clap, and play to a variety of games and songs. Our story features a boy who explores a variety of drums from around the world. Singing, moving, dancing with scarves, and playing a variety of percussion instruments will delight all the drummers in the class.
Our four day summer camps offered throughout the summer months are designed to keep children engaged in learning while having fun with their peers. Each day of the camp the children will have one hour of music instruction, one hour of art instruction, and some time for free play, organized games, and a snack.
Included in your enrollment fee is an instrument, a daily snack, and access to the Kindermusik App.
Jill Hockemeyer
Jill Hockemeyer is the founder of Joyful Musicians, teaching Kindermusik classes to babies through early elementary school children. Jill has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Purdue University. She is the mother of four children, all of whom were enrolled in Kindermusik classes as young children. Jill has spent most of her time raising children and volunteering at their schools, but has also taught preschool classes and computer classes to elementary children.
